Dr. Gordon Josephson
Psychologist
Dr. Josephson practices psychotherapy with adults and older adolescents experiencing challenges such as depression, anxiety, stress, issues of self-esteem, identity, and sexuality, transition difficulties, career concerns, and adjustment to injury and illness. He also works with intimacy and relationship difficulties and offers couple therapy. In addition, he conducts psychological assessments including career assessments.
Prior to joining Gilmour Psychological Services he offered psychological services in community mental health centers and hospitals, including: The Centre for Psychological Services (University of Ottawa), The Mens’ Project, The Royal Ottawa Hospital, The Rehabilitation Centre at the General Hospital, The Roberts-Smart Centre, The Marital and Family Therapy Clinic at the Civic Hospital, and The Ottawa Couple and Family Institute. Currently, Dr. Josephson supervises doctoral students at the Centre for Psychological Services at the University of Ottawa.
Dr. Josephson has been trained in cognitive-behavioral, experiential, and emotionally focused therapeutic approaches and tailors his approach to his clients’ needs. He believes in the importance of offering validated approaches in a collaborative, ethical manner, and of continuing his professional development through conferences and workshops.
Dr. Josephson earned his honours B.A. in Psychology and his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Ottawa. Prior to this, he earned a B.Sc. in Geography/Biology at the University of Regina and a Masters in Environmental Studies at York University and worked both internationally and in the federal government.
In addition to direct psychological services, Dr. Josephson offers organizational training in conflict management, inter-group communication, workplace diversity, and stress management.
